Laval’s Centre de la Nature is a 50-hectare urban park at 901 Avenue du Parc, with a children’s animal farm, a tropical greenhouse, walking trails, and gardens. It is an easy, affordable day out, and shaded enough to be comfortable even if the weekend runs warm.
19th Annual Hope & Cope Walkathon
On Sunday, September 6, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saint-Maxime Park hosts the 19th Annual Hope & Cope Walkathon, a family-friendly community walk (roughly 7 km, or as much as you’re comfortable with) that raises funds for Hope & Cope’s cancer exercise and rehabilitation programs. It wraps up with a family barbecue and prizes, making it a nice way to spend the morning outdoors for a cause.
South Shore: Classic Cars and Live Music in Boucherville
Exposition de Voitures Anciennes
On Saturday, September 5, from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Parc Vincent-d’Indy in Boucherville hosts a free classic car show, presented with Voitures Anciennes et Classiques de Montréal. Expect vintage cars, live sets from Les Mémorables at 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM, food vendors, and family entertainment. No ticket required.
West Island: Beat the Heat Indoors
If the long weekend brings midday heat, or your crew has more energy than the outdoors can absorb, the West Island has two solid indoor options for kids.
Funvie Amusement (Kirkland)
At 3212 Rue Jean-Yves, Funvie Amusement is a 20,000-square-foot indoor playground built for ages 0 to 12, with a multi-level soft play structure, an inflatable castle, giant building blocks, and interactive games.
Willy’s Amusement Center (Pointe-Claire)
Right across from Fairview shopping centre at 950 Boulevard Saint-Jean, Willy’s Amusement Center offers general-admission access to arcade games, climbing structures, and interactive play zones built specifically for younger children.
